Observable characteristics of individuals with well-developed leadership traits, like being a good communicator, motivator, mentor or coach are and can be developed. Being decisive, determined and effective are qualities and skills that can be learned.
Everyone is born with the same potential for achievement, leadership and success; how we develop that potential will ultimately determine our future; the degree to which we succeed lies completely in our control.

Leadership can be defined as the active process of knowing what one wants out of life and what one is willing to give in return.
Leadership comes from internal attitudes, driven by our beliefs and values; our ability to establish a direction, in our life and to proceed in that direction comes only to those who know where they are going. Leadership of others begins with leadership of self; it begins with knowing who we are and what gives our life value and meaning.
The future of business will be greatly determined by the quality and effectiveness of its leaders. Leaders see problems as challenges and work to find suitable solutions; they turn detailed plans into goal-directed action. Leaders realize that the future is theirs to create, they understand that they can’t change from where they came, but that they can direct where they need to go. They know and realize that they cannot always control what happens to them, but most certainly can control how they react to what happens to them.
Leadership & Self-Image
In general people think and perform exactly like the type of person they visualize themselves to be; if they have a negative self-image they will find a way to fail even in the face of exceptional opportunity. They tend to think more often of where & how they failed rather then where and how they have succeeded.
Effective leaders have a strong and positive self-image, a strong belief in themselves and their capabilities and most importantly their ability to empower others by helping them to develop the same kind of self-confidence. Leaders think more frequently in terms of strengths, achievements success as opposed to failure.
